We’ve spent a decade smashing shipping rates.
Along the way we’ve hit a few milestones to be proud of.
Born in a Broom Closet
August 22: First Flight Logistics is launched.
First Trade Show
The company is renamed First Flight Solutions and makes its first appearance at a trade show, Surf Expo. A few months later, FFS debuts at the industry’s biggest trade show, Parcel, which leads to a major increase in the customer base.
First Flight Solutions moves into a suite in a strip mall in the small town of Emerald isle, and the next month the company’s first employee is hired.
Aquire a sister company
Keith Byrd and Travis Burt acquire First Flight Solutions, which becomes a sister company to Transportation Impact.
Philanthropy and an Award
First Flight Solutions donates $1000 to the local Veterans Project. Co-founder Travis Burt is named Small Business Person of the Year by the Carteret Chamber of Commerce.
One of America's Fastest-Growing Private Companies
First Flight Solutions makes the Inc. 5000 for the first time at position #183, and in spring the company hosts a local business forum. That October, major recognition of the company’s success comes in the form of a feature on Co-founder Keith Byrd in the Wall Street Journal.
To round out an excellent year, Carteret County names December 12 “Transportation Impact and First Flight Solutions Day.”
Success on Repeat
First Flight Solutions hosts its second annual local business forum and makes the Inc. 5000 for the second consecutive year.
And a Three-peat
In what’s becoming a trend, the company again makes the Inc. 5000.
New HQ and a Visit from the Governor
First Flight Solutions has now grown out of suites B, C, and D in the strip mall and moves into its shiny new headquarters on Crew Drive, which receives visits from both the Lieutenant Governor and the Governor of North Carolina. The company again makes the Inc. 5000.
For the fifth consecutive year, First Flight Solutions makes the Inc. 5000, and is honored for this rare achievement.
New Employees . . . and a New HQ!
First Flight Solutions starts 2018 with 24 new employees, bringing the total to 80. This year, First Flight is projected to generate revenue of $40 million, while saving clients an average of 19.9% on their shipping spend, for a total of $400 million in savings.
And we’ve got the contractors on the job again: We will be expanding into yet another new building in 2019.
