Hi, I’m Travis Burt, Founder & Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, at First Flight Solutions.
hen Keith and I co-founded First Flight Solutions in 2011 after several decades at UPS®, we had one simple goal: to use our knowledge and experience to help shippers save money.
As with all great partnerships, Keith and I have complementary skills and strengths. I’ve brought my background in sales and operations and extensive industry knowledge to help catalyze the strong growth and success of First Flight Solutions. A key factor in that growth is the proprietary software developed under my direction. By giving our clients quick, actionable reporting capabilities that help them make smarter, faster business decisions, we’ve helped them to grow their companies.
In my 23 years at UPS®, I worked my way up from part-time unloader to Senior Account Manager, along the way attending numerous national schools and workshops to further my understanding and knowledge of the industry. During this time, I perfected the ability to implement streamlined processes and negotiate with remarkable effectiveness.
A long-standing involvement with Rotary International also gave me the opportunity to serve in an exchange program with UPS Europe, where I worked in both operations and sales. The perspective I gained from this experience has enabled me to bring unique and creative ideas to solving problems and improving negotiations.
Another rewarding endeavor is working closely with Campbell University’s Lundy-Fetterman School of Business. From 2000–2003 I was also president of the North Carolina World Trade Association, Coastal Plains Chapter. In 2011, I was honored to be named Carteret County Small Business Person of the year by the Carteret County Chamber of Commerce.
